Tips for a dental visit

Past patients of SODC Dental Clinic have some great advise for you before you travel to Budapest for your dental treatment or consultation. (Part1)

Arrival to Budapest
Jayne (53) Kent: There is always someone to pick you up from the airport, no matter if it's day or night which is good. The airport ride is approx 30 min. One time my flight was late and without asking the clinic adjusted my appointment and called the hotel. They take care of everything....

Tip for your first time: Stay in the arrivals hall if you can't find your driver immediately. Don't forget to turn on your phone, because the driver will have your number to ring you if there is a delay. Check the location of the clinic>

What are the hotels like?
Todd (45) UK: This is our 4th time in Budapest. I had two trips, and now my wife is having her teeth done.

We stayed in Best Western Hungaria the first time. It is a nice place, but a little old. The price and location is very good.

Ibis Heroes Square is near the city park but not so near the center, it is like any other Ibis hotel, the same design, simple and clean. Our favorite was Helia, because it has a spa with many pools and the food was amazing. This time we stay at Hilton because my doughter is with us and she wanted to do some shopping. Hilton is next to a big shopping centre and it is near all tourist places.

Tip for your first time: If you are not sure which hotel to book don't worry, pick one and you can change it while you are in Budapest. You don't have to leave a deposit for the room, the clinic offers your a corporate rate and you can pay on spot when you check out. Check partner hotels>

What was your checklist before travel?

Susan (36) Leicester: I did have a checklist, but still I forgot the hotel booking which turned out wasn't that important at all. So here is my checklist:

- Passport

- Mobile phone and charger (check with provider what you get charged if you use it in Hungary)

- Printed flight itinerary

- Printed arrival confirmation I had from the clinic.

- Adaptor (the plugs are different in Hungary. The hotel had one but it was good to have two)

- Clothes and shoes (My trip was in summer which was much hotter than I expected, so look up the weather before you travel)

- My pills (I had to show to the dentist to know what I take. And my regular pain killer just in case.)

- Some cash, and debit card (In Hungary they still have their Forint but you can easily find a place to change Pounds or Euro, and the rate is very good)

- Music (I don't like the sound of dental tools so I had my Ipod, but they have music in the room anyhow)

Tip for your first time: Before you travel tell your bank about your trip, especially if you plan to pay with your card. Some banks have a limit for crad payments abroad for safety reasons. If you bring cash you can leave it in the hotel safe. You are safe to bring cash because you don't have to walk around the city, the transports are all arranged with the clinics own driver.
